A CEREC tooth restoration isn't just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options to repair decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals.
With CEREC, our dentists can use strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. So, your tooth does not crack, and you can go on enjoying your evening. Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so your dentist can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.
Worldwide, a CEREC restoration is placed every 20 seconds. With a history of nearly 20 years, this equipment has helped dentists place over 6 million restorations. Using metal free materials that are the closest to your natural enamel, CEREC gives you the highest quality restorative care. Ask Dr GS Ubhi today about CEREC restorative care.
A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. If an implant has a screw-thread on its outer surface it can be screwed into position and if it does not, it is usually tapped into place. The main aim during placement of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone into microscopic roughnesses on the implant surface.
In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures.
Healthy gums are important as the provide support for your teeth and dental implants. Looking after your gums and teethe is equally important. The hygienist’s main role is to professionally clean the teeth for the patient. This is usually called scaling and polishing.
However, perhaps their most important role is showing the patient the best way to keep the teeth free of plaque. The hygienist will work with your dentist to provide care tailored to your needs.
Bad breath is a very common problem and there are many different causes. Persistent bad breath is usually caused by the smelly gases released by the bacteria that coat your teeth and gums. Bits of food that get caught between the teeth and on the tongue will rot and can sometimes cause an unpleasant smell. So correct and regular brushing is very important to keep your breath smelling fresh.
Reports show that mouth cancer is on the rise and that early detection dramatically improves the recovery chances. Mouth cancer can often be spotted in its early stages by your dentist during a thorough mouth examination.

There has been a steep learning curve from undergraduate training to foundation training, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and I have been very fortunate to have the whole team at UPDC to support me. Dr Ubhi has a wealth of knowledge which he is eager to share through tutorials and case discussions. He is very patient, approachable, encouraging and pushes you to develop into a competent and confident independent practitioner. There is a friendly and positive team atmosphere within the practice which is reflected in the high standards of clinical care delivered to patients. Dr Ubhi has been an excellent educational supervisor and his dedication for clinical development is remarkable.

The step up from undergraduate to foundation training is undoubtedly a big one, and can be really daunting; I have been so lucky to have been able to spend my foundation year at Upton Park Dental Care, being fully supported to become an independent and confident practitioner. Despite being part of the COVID cohort, I have thoroughly enjoyed completing my foundation year here; at all times, Dr Ubhi has been incredibly patient during the learning process and is always approachable for advice and help. Dr Ubhi has vast experience both in clinical dentistry and as an educational supervisor, and as such has been really encouraging in helping me gain as much as I can from the year through our regular tutorials and in planning and discussing cases as well as tackling more complex cases and treatments. The environment at the practice is incredibly supportive, and there is a real emphasis on -round patient care amongst the staff and dentists as well as a warm and friendly approach as a team that made me feel part of the team right from the start.

The team at Upton Park Dentalcare are undoubtedly the most sincere and supportive bunch I have had the pleasure to work with. I am so grateful for Dr Ubhi’s kind support throughout my foundation training year. His friendly, approachable personality has enabled me to grow both clinically and professionally. I have enjoyed my year, learnt so much and now feel in a privileged position to embark upon whatever path my career takes me. He has encouraged me to pursue my goals, maintain focus during testing times and I know he will always be at the other end of the line and happy to advise me whatever happens in the future. He has created an enjoyable, welcoming and professional working environment which is reflected throughout the dental team. His dual role as a trainee support tutor has helped me transition from life as a dental student to life as a dentist and I now finally feel ready to become an independent, confident and competent dentist. He has nurtured my passion for dentistry and I will always look back at my time in Upton Park Dental care with fond memories. Thank you so much!

" Leaving dental school, I was apprehensive about what the life of being a dentist would be ahead. From the very first day, Dr Ubhi was a keen trainer with a wealth of knowledge. He provided me with endless support and guidance from the outset. I was eased in to the process of being an associate dentist with the help of regular tutorials that were tailored to my needs. With this approach, as the year progressed, my level of dependence reduced and the confidence in my own ability increased. By the end of the foundation year I felt prepared and well equipped with the clinical and non-clinical skills required to make a successful associated dentist. Long after my time as a foundation dentist, Dr Ubhi has remained a great mentor and a good friend. "

“I did my DF1 training at Upton Park Dental Care in 2014-15 with Dr G S Ubhi. I found the year to be one of the best learning experiences I’ve had. The patients have a very mixed treatment need, allowing you to develop your skills in all areas of dentistry. Dr Ubhi was very supportive during this time; we had regular tutorials covering topics I was unsure of as well as clinical support in the surgery if needed. I feel my experience at UPDC has prepared me well for working independently as an associate. To this day, I know that I can always call Dr Ubhi for help or advice”

I had Raj as a VT trainer in July 2011. Not only did he give me exactly the right environment to grow as a clinician and to learn from his clinical skills, but on a personal level he gave me every bit of support and confidence to go out into the world of dentistry. I now work in fully private practice in central London and I can honestly say that I learnt so much from Raj that he was the best teacher and mentor I have had even to this day.

My name is Amol Patel, I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2009, after applying to the london deanery for a foundation training post that included a written assessment and a formal interview, I was lucky enough to receive a placement at Upton Park Dental Care. I chose this practice from a plethora of 12 , after a meet and greet trainer evening. I found Raj very personable and friendly and just down to earth. After a tough training course this is what i was looking for in a experienced trainer.
The vocational period is a tough but rewarding period for a trainee as all the skills that are harnessed by graft are put into craft, Upton Park perhaps one of the most populous areas in London was perfect place for me to see patients from all over the world and assess, diagnose and treat their needs with the aim of restoring good oral health in a holistic manner " one of Raj favourite words".
Weekly study sessions given by Raj that form part of the necessary electronic portfolio were given at Upton Park Dental Centre in addition to trainee events, discussing current evidenced based topics indeed were given at the local community hospital which was insightful into the mind of young developing practitioner.
Raj was always on hand if any treatment needed to be discussed or patients required further management due to the complexity of the work. The practice is modern , newly furbished and the staff are very friendly.
It was a tough decision for me to leave the practice but i decided to further my knowledge by taking a DF2 post at Guys Hospital.I feel my time at Upton Park has given me a more competent reflective approach to my career that has contributed myself in becoming an independent practitioner. Indeed this continuous approach to self directed learning the foundations are placed within the the first few years of graduating and I truly believe Raj contributed towards this.
Raj is still always a phone-call away if advice i ever needed dental albeit life.
regards
good luck !
